Love is all you need?

In honor of the most dreadful holiday EVA, we are going valentines! When Courtney told Heather her plans to decorate the letters L-O-V-E, Heather turned up her nose. Still unsure of Courtney's crafting ideas, Heather held her breathe and let Courtney go to Hobby Lobby ALONE!!!! Courtney overconfidently prance into "the HL" knowing she was coming out with something great, but what?

After checking out the 90% off X-mas iteams (and buying almost everything that was left), Courtney started up and down the isles trying to remember when she was cool and had other ways to spend her evenings. She looked at every letter the HL had to offer. Not finding the perfect letters gave up hope and went down the valentine isle one more time! There were the letters the most perfect letters.....



When Courtney showed the letters to Heather the next day her response was, "Oh those aren't as bad as I thought they would be." and "That is actually cute". OH yee of little faith....So Heather took her letters to her house and Courtney to her "winter home" and the decorating is ON.....

Women vs"The Machine"....Courtney

I arose from the basement with my pillow held high like that monkey held Simba’s baby in the Lion King. I imagined singing coming from all my people as we all proudly smiled and gathered around my creation. My pillow! I did a victory lap around the kitchen island, wishing someone was home to share my glory! A couple fist pumps and booty shakes later...I think...Vera WHO? WHAT? WHEN? VERA HOW? Courtney IS the new Vera Wang!



This my friends is my pillow in all it's glory. It was a fairly easy journey for me and The Stan (the pillows name). But like most humble beginnings, it all started with a scarf and dream.....




Once I washed and re washed the scarf(it did come from the salvation army my friends,)I was on my way. I did what I hadn't done in years...I IRONED! I laid out the scarf on the new fabric sis and I picked up from Hobby Lobby! Then it was me vs "The Machine".



When I started to sew, there was red thread in "The Machine". I had to dig deep into myself (and the sewing box) until I found direction or rather THE DIRECTIONS! I didn't even had to read them! They were all pictures! PERFECT! For the record, I do know how to read...but picture directions ROCK! So it was no problem to change that red thread to black..It only took maybe 11 minutes to make that pillow..but it IS a lifetime accomplishment....Here is the picture one more time...

Sew what????

We haven't sat in front of a sewing machine since (fill in the blank) years ago and Mrs Frazier's freshman sewing class. Courtney came away from the class with a very wearable ( not in public) camouflage sweatshirt. It was a perfect fit for someone that had one very long arm and one very short one. Heather (the show off) made a skirt with the presser foot sewn into the zipper! A talented couple of sisters we are!

We aren't one to sit back and not accept a challenge! If you're not goin' big...go on home! Here is what I have in mind!






We are going to make a wedding dress for Courtney's BFFAEAEAEAE Brandi. In October she is going to marry the love her life Chris McShea! I'm super excited to welcome Chris into our family and thinks he will love the dress we're making for B.....

Unfortunately, We are not Vera Wang nor are we pretending to be. So, we're making pillows! We found an beautiful scarf from Salvation Army in Marathon FL. YES...Courtney went into the Salvation Army came out alive (minus a panic attack and a small patch of hives)! So tomorrow we are going to Hobby Lobby and on Wed we will actually start sewing the pillows...

Cheers to crafting!

First and foremost, this blog is about crafting, the attempt to craft and life as the Ullman sisters see it. This is NOT a grammar blog, so please for give us! Sometimes my head thinks faster then my abnormally long fingers can type. But we'll give it the ole college try! 

We will discover Courtney's inner craft, while perfecting Heather's. We will document the bumpy road that leads us to the unknown. We welcome ALL suggestions (assuming people will read this, Hi mom!) and easier/better ways to do something. We also welcome a challenge! So if you have an idea, something that will stretch our crafitivty to limits we would be happy to try it out!
